You may have noticed that song.so doesn't offer the ability to connect custom domains to your music links. Here's why — and what we're building instead.
The Problem with Custom Domains
Custom domains would directly impact our first-party tracking system, which is the core technology that makes song.so's conversion tracking so accurate.
Our 98% tracking accuracy relies on:
First-party cookies on our domain
Server-side tracking without ad blockers affecting data
Cross-platform fingerprinting
If we allowed custom domains, these tracking mechanisms would be significantly weakened, and you'd lose the accuracy advantage that sets song.so apart from other link services.
The Solution: Branded Subdomains (Coming Soon)
We're actively working on a better alternative: branded subdomains that give you customization without sacrificing tracking.
Examples of what's coming:
label.song.soartist.song.so
This approach lets you brand your music links while maintaining full first-party tracking accuracy.
Status: Not live yet, but under development.
Why This Matters
By keeping links on the song.so domain, you get:
✅ 98% tracking accuracy (vs. industry standard 70-85%)
✅ 6.7 Event Match Quality (for Meta Ads)
✅ Ad blocker bypass technology
✅ Server-side tracking that works when pixels fail
✅ AI fingerprinting for user identification
Custom domains would require you to sacrifice these advantages for a URL that looks different.
What You Can Do Now
While custom domains aren't available, you can:
Brand your links: Use a memorable slug (e.g.,
song.so/artist-name-album)Use in your bio: Add song.so links to your Spotify bio, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
Wait for subdomains: Keep an eye out for branded subdomain support
Summary
We don't support custom domains because they would undermine the tracking accuracy that makes song.so valuable. Instead, we're building branded subdomains to give you the best of both worlds: customization + accuracy.
Your tracking quality is more valuable than your domain name — and we're not willing to compromise that.
