Why We Don't Offer Pre-Save Links

You may have noticed that song.so doesn't offer traditional pre-save links like other services. Here's why — and what we do instead that's actually more effective.

The Problem with Traditional Pre-Saves

Spotify has significantly restricted their API access over the past few years. They're pushing artists toward their own official solution: Spotify Countdown Pages (formerly known as "pre-save" features).

Spotify Countdown Pages are only available for:

  • EPs and albums (not single tracks)

  • Artists with at least 5,000 active listeners

Because of these restrictions, traditional third-party pre-save links have become less effective and less reliable.

Our Solution: Upcoming Page URLs

Instead of struggling with outdated pre-save technology, we recommend using official Spotify Countdown Pages through song.so's music links:

  1. Create a regular music link in song.so for your release

  2. Get your release's Upcoming Page URL from Spotify for Artists

  3. Use that Upcoming Page URL as your Spotify destination in song.so

  4. Users get redirected to the official Spotify countdown page with one click

Why This Approach Is Better

  • No Login Required: Users see an in-app pre-save countdown that doesn't require them to log in first

  • Official Integration: You're using Spotify's own approved pre-save system

  • Push Notifications: Users receive official Spotify push notifications on their lock screens on release day

  • Higher Retention: Push notifications lead to significantly higher retention rates and more streams on day one from pre-release saves

Conversion Rates

Using Spotify Countdown Pages through song.so music links, we see average pre-save conversion rates of:

0.30% - 0.50% of Spotify platform clicks

This is much more effective than traditional third-party pre-save services, because you're using Spotify's own infrastructure and users are getting official push notifications.

How to Get Your Upcoming Page URL

  1. Go to Spotify for Artists

  2. Navigate to your upcoming release

  3. Find the Countdown Page section

  4. Copy the Upcoming Page URL

  5. Use this URL as your Spotify destination in song.so

Summary

By using Spotify's official Countdown Pages instead of traditional pre-saves, you get:

  • ✅ Official Spotify integration

  • ✅ In-app pre-save experience (no login required)

  • ✅ Lock screen push notifications on release day

  • ✅ Higher conversion rates and stream retention

  • ✅ Better user experience overall

This is why we don't offer traditional pre-save links — because Spotify's official Countdown Pages are a superior solution for your music releases.
