Business Manager Setup: Your Marketing Command Center
Duration: 6-8 minutes | Prerequisites: Business Manager access + Instagram account connected
Overview
A Facebook Business Manager is your central command center for all advertising activity. It connects your Instagram account, manages payments, controls ad campaigns, and tracks performance. Think of it as the "admin panel" where all your marketing tools live.
Why You Need a Business Manager
Security: Control who has access to your advertising assets
Organization: Manage multiple Instagram accounts, ad accounts, and people in one place
Payments: Centralized billing for all your ads
Permissions: Grant team members different levels of access (Admin, Editor, Analyst)
Business Manager Structure Explained
Business Manager has a hierarchy:
Business Manager (Top Level): Your entire workspace
Instagram Accounts: Individual IG accounts you own or manage
Ad Accounts: Where campaigns actually run (can have multiple)
Pages: Facebook pages connected to ads
Users: People with access to your manager
Key Components Setup
1. Your Account Information
Business Manager asks for:
Business name (your artist name works)
Business email (use something professional)
Business phone (for contact purposes)
Business address (can be personal address or PO box)
2. Add Team Members (Optional)
If you have a team:
Go to Users in Settings
Click "Add"
Enter their email
Select their role:
Admin: Full control (use sparingly)
Editor: Can create/edit campaigns
Analyst: View-only access to reports
3. Connect Your Instagram Account
As covered in Module 1, you connect your Instagram here so it can be used for ads.
4. Create Ad Accounts (Next Step)
Each campaign you run uses an Ad Account. You can have multiple Ad Accounts under one Business Manager (useful for testing or multiple artists).
Best Practices
Use a Professional Email: Don't use your personal email for Business Manager if possible
Two-Factor Authentication: Enable 2FA on your Facebook account for security
Limit Admin Access: Only give admin role to yourself (or one trusted person)
Archive Old Ad Accounts: Keep Business Manager clean by archiving unused accounts
Review Permissions Quarterly: Audit who has access and remove inactive team members

Troubleshooting
Q: Can I switch from personal ad account to Business Manager?
A: Yes, but it requires going to Settings → Ad Accounts → Claim existing account. We recommend starting fresh with Business Manager for new campaigns.
Q: What if I lose access to my Business Manager email?
A: Update the email in Settings immediately. If you lose access entirely, contact Meta support.
Next: Ad Account Setup
Your Business Manager is now ready. Next, you'll create an Ad Account where your actual campaigns will run. This includes payment methods and currency settings.
